Billie Holiday was born on April 17th 1915s. The place of birth was Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Billie Holiday died in July 17th 1959. The greatest accomplishment was that she was the first black woman to be in an all white people band! Billie Holiday had a really bad drug problem. Holiday met a befriended saxophonist, “Lester Yong!” Sadly holiday went to jail because of her drug problem. Before she was in jail, she was raped. Billie started to take more really bad and powerful drugs. In the 1950s she toured Europe. The reason our lives are better today because this person was an all black person to join an all white band during segregation! She made good progress with her singing, but she made a bad choice totake drugs. She may have taken drugs but she is still a star. She was the first African American to join an all white band during segregation, and i am proud of her acomplishment.
